“The Environmental Impact of Design”

This is the other brief I'm working on alongside the "10 Things You Should Know About Graphic Design" brief.
Also needs to be completed by Christmas

The Brief

“The Environmental Impact of Design”
Use information graphics to inform and educate designers about there environmental impact in the studio environment by the tools and actions they use.

Concept/Proposition

Using all the masses of unclear research I find in response to my dissertation research, simplify it, and turn it into and educational piece of design for designers.

Considerations

Effective and correct research.
Where would it be? What environment will it displayed? Use the space available!
What will be the best way to make designers aware?
Make and impact.
Consider using screen print or digital print.

Target Audience

Designers – both existing and students learning the ways of the world as a designer.

Tone of Voice
Informative and clear.

Background

As part of my dissertation I am researching the tools used by graphic designers and there environmental impacts.
I want to move this on and make the information I find much clearer.
I want to educate and inform using the help of 'infographics'

Mandatory Requirements

Final resolution
Where would it be viewed / distributed?
Posters? Website pop ups? Leaflet?
What will capture the eye of a designer?!

Deliverables

Sketch book and development work
Lots and lots of research.
An end product... (posters? Promotional stuff aimed at designers)
Presented on between 3 & 6 A2 presentation boards.
Supporting work should be ordered and presented in A2 plastic sleeves.

"10 Things You Should Know About Graphic Design"

Here is a brief I've written myself that needs to be completed by Christmas.

The Brief

“10 things you should know about Graphic Design”
Produce a printed publication related to this sentence.

Concept/Proposition

Inform and educate the reader/user about Graphic Design and what it is!
Give people an understanding of how important it is and where they might be without it.

Design a publication containing 10 things people should know about it.

Considerations

By the end of this project a should have a printed publication, and will need to consider the following:-
Size and format.
The distribution
What practical skills could I develop in response to this? Screen print? Digital print?
Take into consideration using type and image and using if effectively to get a message across.
A book? Broadsheets? Folded leaflet? Various cards?
The audience should be a key consideration.

Target Audience

The general public.
Family and friends of designers.
People who just don't understand.

Tone of Voice

Informative but fun.

Background

I'm fed up of trying to explain to people what I do at uni. My grandma thinks I paint, my dad thinks I draw all day. Then there's trying to explain it, which is never easy and people still don't seem to grasp it.

I want to educate people about what we do, make them realise that what we do is the back bone of society.

Mandatory Requirements

A printed publication.
The resolution should be supported by an appropriate level of research and development work presented in an appropriate format.

Deliverables

Sketch book/development work
Research on blog and in notebooks
A printed publication
Presented on between 3 & 6 A2 presentation boards
Background work needs to be ordered and presented in A2 plastic sleeves.
